June is the one month where it’s all about the youth – the brands who are plugged in will know how to take full advantage of this as part of their campaigns. A national holiday that holds a lot of history for the country, with a continuous challenge to brand teams to not reinvent the wheel but rather commemorate the month relevantly.
With the constant aspiration from brand teams to be on ground and in the trending chats with the something different, two brands stepped up to the challenge. This youth month Newtown Junction, the Mall known for arts, crafts and all the fashion, together with Plascon, put the spotlight on two young artists from the National School of the Arts (NSA) in celebration of their creative artistic expressions. The talented Blue Benington and Naledi Moleko are young creatives who are painting their way through the struggle and are levelling it up through their talent.

The celebrated young artists who matriculated from the NSA are still following their dreams and sharing their beautiful work. Through this collaboration and having their murals up for all to appreciate, Blue and Naledi now have the interesting narrative of a post-school reflection of where their journey in the arts can take them. Their artistic murals, painted up on the famous photo friendly and Instagram ready Newtown Piazza court walls, were revealed on Youth Day, 16 June 2021 at the media and influencer ‘Sip & Paint’ experience.

Newtown Junction also donated R10,000.00 to the NSA as a gesture of commitment towards empowering the youth and supporting the arts. A portion of the donation will be shared with Blue and Naledi, and the rest will go towards assisting with art equipment for other students.

The artists are incredibly excited about collaboration project with the two brands and look forward to all the support and love on social media.
