Heritage Month celebrations have officially kicked off as Nestlé ESAR revealed their exciting campaign for the iconic month, courtesy of its three brands; @NestléRecipesWithLove, @KitKatSa and @NescaféRicoffy. The proudly South African campaign was launched digitally through a virtual launch hosted by actress and television presenter, Dineo Langa.

If you know South Africans like we know them, September is that month when we come together to reflect and celebrate our shared identity. And of course, the best way to do this is over a couple of our favourite treats. This year, Nestlé have claimed their seat at the nostalgia table to bring us together and help us celebrate our heritage by linking food, music, language, fashion and art. Also taking a seat at the #YourHeritageYourPride celebratory table are their 3 iconic brands: NESTLÉ KITKAT, NESCAFÈ RICOFFY and NESTLÉ DESSERT AND COOKING CREAM.

Over the years, Nestlé has invested in infrastructure development at local factories, supported many community development initiatives as well as skills development projects in South Africa. 90% of their products are made in South Africa and, believe it or not, 100% of all the milk that is used in their dairy culinary range is sourced from local milk farmers. To show how serious they are about ‘walking the talk’, the team at Nestlé spent over R1 billion on their combined local procurement spend in their South African-produced brands.
Through this year’s #YourHeritageYourPride campaign, Nestlé intends to entrench its commitment and partnerships by rejoicing in South Africa’s diversity, celebrating the culture and the special moments that make us all proudly South African.

Now surely, you’ve picked up the trend – we love nice things and conversations here at Sensational Sips. We won’t even try to deny it. So, when we received the invitation for something exciting that Nestlé was launching on the 10th of September, we just had to jump on. And; it called on our heritage being our pride – another thing we’re crazy about.
This is how Nestlé plans to celebrate South Africa’s heritage:

ChitChat with NESTLÉ KITKAT
During Heritage Month, NESTLÉ KITKAT wants to encourage South Africans to ‘have a break’ by breaking the tension and connecting with fellow South Africans through Chit Chats with this much-loved chocolate brand. NESTLÉ KITKAT wants to inspire people to pause, and through a change in perspective, see an opportunity to find common ground so they can enjoy a moment together with a smile. Now this definitely sounds like something we could do with… a break that comes with cackles and conversations.
Through identified passion points; music, fashion, language and food, we will create Chit Chat moments that will break the tensions and bring people together. Keep an eye out for updates on which influential South Africans will lead the ChitChat series!

#MomentsofPride with NESCAFÉ RICOFFY
Over the last several months, South Africans were given the opportunity to design a “Proudly Me” NESCAFÉ RICOFFY 750g Tin and see it come to life. South Africans voted and the three winning designers will be revealed, and their designs available in stores this month. Now take it from us, you want to rush to your nearest store to get your hands on these. The designs are an absolute cool nostalgia feature to your coffee mornings.
In addition, despite a challenging 2020, we all have something to be grateful for. For this reason, this Heritage Month, NESCAFÉ RICOFFY is encouraging South Africans to share their special shared #MomentsofPride and celebrate the beautiful stories that inspire NESCAFÉ RICOFFY.

#DelightfullyMzansi food moments with NESTLÉ DESSERT AND COOKING CREAM
To celebrate the nation’s diversity through food moments, created with the Nestlé Dessert and Cooking Cream range, they are launching #DelightfullyMzansi – a creative platform that will enable us to celebrate and showcase all that makes us authentically South African and how food moments, over authentically Mzansi occasions, connect and unite us. Keep your eyes peeled for when they reveal Icons of Heritage who have unapologetically celebrated their heritage through their creativity, from food, music and design. They will also be closing off Heritage Month with the release of a compilation of the #DelightfullyMzansi recipes, to give consumers opportunity to create their delightfully Mzansi food moments at home. Now of course we won’t keep the launch sips to ourselves… if we heard correctly, this compilation will be in collaboration with the talented Trevor Stuurman.

We are mad about cool brand stuff, collaborations and celebrating all things South African. This virtual launch certainly ticked the boxes for us – from the pre-launch drop to the beautiful host, it certainly was a #DelightfullyMzansi way to get us into September. To close-off the virtual celebration was Limpopo’s finest export, the one and only Makhadzi who gave an electrifying performance with her smash single Matorokisi.
